Saving a cramped kitchen with a smart layout
When my client first contacted me, she felt in over her head with design decisions for her vacation house in Jamaica.
Her contractor sent her this photo of the kitchen layout he installed into a neighbor’s unit that was a mirror image of her own. On paper, she thought this was what she wanted, but upon seeing this image, she was horrified.
Becuase I offer virtual, remote design services, we were able to get started right away with a fresh new layout.
Before
This kitchen layout feels cramped, dark, and frankly…depressing.
After
I suggested we take advantage of an adjacent laundry room, making it more of a walk-in Butlers pantry where she could store her fridge and food items. This allowed us to free up her kitchen of heavy uppers and hefty appliances.
The result is so much more open!
Because this is a small space, I suggested she install a counter to ceiling tile to keep things fresh and open.
My client wanted a neutral, modern kitchen but felt inspired to play a little more with color and pattern in the laundry/butler’s pantry. How cute is this room??
I can’t wait to see photos of these spaces once they are installed!
