E-design FAQ
What is e-design?
Edesign is short for online interior design and means everything is done remotely.
How do I complete a site-survey?
That’s easy! See my tutorial here I’m here to help you every step of the way, so don’t hesitate to ask questions.
What if I’m on a budget? Do you have minimums?
When it comes to edesign, I have no project minimums. I can work with you wherever you are to make improvements to your space.
How do I make a payment for your services?
I will invoice you via PayPal before a project begins
What if I am not happy with the final design?
My goal is to always learn as much as I can about your preferences and communicate clearly with you throughout the process to ensure the final design reflects you. I also provide 3 options for you to choose from for the key elements in the room so that you are involved in the process. If for some reason you are not happy with the finished design, I will be happy to make adjustments to it. I want you to love it!
Where do you source your furnishings for the design?
This greatly depends on the client’s budget, but I carefully source my selections based on quality regardless. I frequently source from CB2, Chairish and Pottery Barn to name a few, but also utilize sources local to my client whenever possible. Occasionally, my clients like to find items on craigslist or facebook marketplace that are the same or similar to my recommendations. That is totally fine, too!
Do you make referrals for contractors?
No. Since I am not familiar with the contractors in your area, I cannot make referrals. I recommend you check online reviews and references prior to hiring.
Do you manage, supervise or communicate with the contractors on my behalf?
No. That is what makes this option more affordable to you compared to full service. You will be responsible for implementing the design. With edesign, it is purely a design handed over to you to execute on your own timeline.
What if my contractor asks me a question pertaining to the design and I don’t know the answer?
Please contact me with any questions and I will be happy to advise.
What if a product you have recommended is no longer available?
If this happens within 30 days of receiving the shopping list from me, I will make an alternative substitution. If I have sourced a sale item for you due to your budgetary needs, I can’t guarantee a replacement can be found. I recommend you purchase sale and vintage items from your list first.
Can I shop around for the best price for an item or replace it with an item I like better?
Sure! If you would like to source items on craigslist or marketplace to save money, that is totally fine. I do not receive commission from any of the products I recommend. Just keep in mind I can’t guarantee colors and finishes will match if substitutions are made that are different than the one I have selected for you.
What if I have a favorite store local to me that I wish to incorporate into the design? That’s great! I love supporting small, local business whenever possible. As long as I am able to see product images online or via photos, this is totally doable!
Do you only design rooms based on your personal style or are you able to make other designs based on my preferences?
I can create designs based on your preferences, absolutely! Whether you prefer a neutral, calming room or a bold, colorful room, I can design around your tastes.
What if I don’t know what my style is or can’t articulate it for you?
That is not a problem! I created an easy, style quiz to help determine your personal style. Alternatively, if you already have a pinterest board or screen-shots of inspiration images, I can use that, too.
I am in a time crunch. Do you offer rush services?
Please contact me to find out about my current availability
What if I already have a large item like a sofa. Can you design around it?
Yes!
Do you handle the sourcing of furnishings yourself?
I source everything you need and compile a shopping list with purchase instructions, quantities, shopping links etc.
Will I be able to see samples of materials prior to signing off on them?
Yes! This is the fun part. Design is such a sensory, personal experience. I want you to be able to see and touch tiles and fabrics before committing to them whenever possible. Other things like certain furnishings, and paint colors can be found in showrooms near you depending on your location.
What if I’ve already started a design. Can you jump in where I’ve left off?
The short answer is, yes! Occasionally, there may be instances where we have to revisit some design decisions that are making the room feel stuck or just don’t work. Sometimes being open to these changes can make the rest of the project flow more smoothly and efficiently. I will always try to utilize what you have, where you are at, whenever possible.
