Hausmatter Interiors Fall 2019 One Room Challenge Week Five

Welcome to the final week of GETTING IT ALL DONE! It’s do or die. Or something like that.

I’m going to keep this post short and sweet, because there’s plenty of Zhuzhing to be done. This week is all about finishing touches, and I am really working on showing some restraint when it comes to the editing of this room.

Yesterday, I wrangled up a gaggle of vintage accessories from my chairish to see what felt right in the room. If I played maximalist, and included them all, it would no doubt be impactful, but I wouldn’t be able to fully appreciate them as individual pieces. I may only include two or three, but it’s important to see them all in the room at once and determine which items speak to me.

Also, how about this amazing runner from Celine and Kate!? I love the contrast it gives to my burl wood table.

I also had the honor of receiving some truly breathtaking original art from Tracey Nicholas Art. I can’t stop staring at this beauty. I knew once I saw it online, it would be the perfect piece for this room. It provides both a vibrant, pop of color, as well as a softness in the composition. I love the juxtaposition. All of Tracey’s oil paintings are inspired by land and seascapes and her use of color is brilliant. Please check out the rest of the pieces in her shop. My family is going to treasure this one forever!

EEP! The next time I share this room, it will be complete 🙌 I am ready. My husband is ready. Even the dog is ready. 🤣 It’s been a group effort. I’m thankful for the opportunity to see what results from really hard work in a short amount of time. No doubt, this room would probably look different if decorated over time, but I kind of like seeing what occurs when there are constraints and obstacles. It makes the finished result even more rewarding.
