Hausmatter Interiors Fall 2019 One Room Challenge Week Three
Week 3 is here! This has been the week of finalizing decisions and executing installation of some of the key pieces in this room.
I’m so excited to be partnering with some amazing sponsors for this project!
Choosing lighting for this room was tricky. I needed to find a light that wouldn’t compete with everything on the back wall, and would go with my chrome chairs. Since I didn’t want a chrome light, I knew the best thing to do would be to mix metals.
I mean, how cool is this fixture by Illuminate Vintage??!
I chose the Austin light. It packs a punch without competing with the room. This fixture is available in several finishes with clear or white globes.
I love the matte black, powder coat with the raw brass on this beauty...
I also received this amazing set of lemon prints for the wall. I knew when I first started with this design that I wanted something botanical, without being to flowery. I looked at several vintage-style lemon illustrations and this was the one I fell in love with by Bella Botanica.
They were packaged beautifully and the colors were even more vibrant in person. I can’t wait to get these on the wall!
Remember the bench debacle? Well, the company has been great in working with me on getting the hole repaired, so we are full speed ahead getting this thing together!
It’s a family affair 😆
Other than the small manufacturing issue with the upholstery, I really am very happy with the quality of this bench. It’s very sturdy and I like that I can recover it as I move it from room to room down the road.
If you know me, you know I love vintage. I’ve been hoarding these italian lemon topiaries. They are going to look so good against the blue. Are you starting to see a theme here?
There are so many things to tackle this coming week, but I am really enjoying how this room is starting to take shape. It’s entirely different than how it initially started. In fact, it’s practically designing itself at this point. I am just along for the ride 😎
Since we live in a rental, there isn’t much I can do about the flooring, so I rely on rugs pretty heavily in this house (see that linoleum? yikes!). This weeks to-do list involves ordering the rug. This has been the HARDEST decision. I have probably changed my mind 4 times. I know I could knock it out of the park with a contrasting yellow or bright fuchsia, but I MAY go in a different here. You’ll have to stay tuned to see which route this rug takes me! Hold on to your seatbelts, kids - it’s a wild ride!
I also need to make a mirror selection from these 3 choices. Two are from my chairish shop and the middle one is from Target. If I go with the smaller mirror, I’ll be looking at adding something else to this wall to fill it out a bit.
Any one of these mirrors could work in this room and each has it’s own personality.
Any favorites? Speak now or forever hold your peace!
This week’s to-do list:
-Repair holes in wall
-hang artwork
-make mirror selection
-purchase rug
-order table runner
-have pillows made for captains chairs
-finalize and order accessories
-dye vintage chairs a deeper mustard yellow (?)
