Johnson City Dining Room Refresh

With this quarantine in full swing, I have been doing some major house projects. And by major, I mean minor, but with major impact. Am I making any sense? LOL. Sometimes it’s best to let the photo tell the story. Like this dining room. A simple switch of paint, some new art and this room has a whole new attitude!

Since there are so many colored walls in this Johnson city, TN house, I decided to bring a neutral into this room. But not just any neutral. A moooooody neutral. This color is so rich and sophisticated. It is neither cool nor warm, and provides so much depth to a small, boxy room. Bonus; it really makes colors POP!

I was seriously floored when I saw this piece at the Sleepy Poet in Charlotte. I didn’t purchase it initially, but couldn’t stop thinking about it. My parents were kind enough to go pick it up for me when I called them frantically four hours away asking if there car could accommodate a 4x5 foot painting LOL.

As a renter, I’m always looking for ways to fill a wall, that aren’t permanent. I’m so excited we will be able to take this with us when we move again.

I love taking stuffy things and making them unstuffy. This chalk-ware bust has been in my shop for the longest time, and I finally decided to claim it for myself.

Painting this neoclassical piece in a bright, two-toned neon is both unexpected, and well…fun! Did I mention we were having fun here?

Being stuck inside has made me appreciate the simple things so much more. The speaker has been playing tunes around the clock while the windows allow the sweetness of Spring to fill the house. And flowers. There have been flowers.

Our Forsythia, looks like it is one giant yellow ball in our backyard. I’ve never pruned the thing. It’s just all mother nature.

Having some stems grace our table makes each day feel special. Even if we aren’t sure which day that is.

I just love the way pastels look against this gray color. I had these chairs in my shop for awhile, but decided to keep them. Whoops - I keep doing that. I guess I’m my own best customer.

With warmer days approaching, I’m looking forward to pulling out all of the fancy shmancy serving pieces I’m been hoarding away in this mirrored credenza.

If you remember from my one room challenge post, getting this bench was the best decision of my life. Okay, not the best. But, up there. I love a bench for a dining room. It makes things more intimate and less formal.

I also swapped out the clear globes on my Illuminate Vintage chandelier for white. It brings even more contrast to the room.

I am a homebody who is also an extravert. Have those two things ever coexisted in another human before? Since the quarantine, I realize more than ever that humans are social creatures. We are meant to gather and commune with one another. What better place to do that than in the dining room of your home?

Be well friends, and stay safe!
